There is a rich field of African, Middle Eastern, Chinese, and Indian mathematics that is often ignored in the present teaching of the subject. In both mathematics education and the philosophy of mathematics, mathematical proof is typically defined as a type of justification that satisfies a collection of necessary and sufficient conditions. She claims that we have not fully understood the nature of these difficulties and so have not known how to best help children with them. Although all children need extensive exposure to mathematics, there is a wide range of individual variation across all domains of learning.
