I liked the acknowledgement of the cultural aspect of appetite, a challenging topic in many levels as to what constitutes 'food,' and its importance in rituals and celebrations. The table of contents and index are detailed. This will not be difficult for me to do for my course as I believe that the updates will be easy to implement. A truly exciting enhancement to the ninth edition is the ground-breaking inclusion of digital tools that are integrated to a greater degree than those offered by any other publisher. The only major shortcoming is that this edition was written before publication of USDA nutrition guidelines and this is in need of updating.
